To be able to cycle through all your music with COMAND you must first run iTunes and then have a playlist selected with all your tracks or have all songs be visible. For example, if you have an album selected in iTunes on the phone, you can only ‘next track’ in COMAND within that album. In addition, after doing so, you can only playback the tracks that are ‘presently visible’ in iTunes on your phone. I just tested the process with my iPhoneX and 2014 cla. You must first activate your phone, then run the iTunes app on your phone, and playback a track on the phone before the COMAND system on the car recognizes any music. There are hundreds of posts and you tube videos demonstrating how to link the devices, but none seems to actually show it working with an iPhone. No combination of UI or phone manipulation seem to be able to “un-pause” whatever is paused.
However, although the phone & COMAND interface lets me setup and connect for Bluetooth music successfully with no obvious errors, when I attempt to playback track via COMAND, the UI in the car says ‘device paused’.
The phone connects to the car via Bluetooth successfully for voice calls, and other non-music related functions. I have tried to control the phone via Bluetooth for playback of my phone’s music in the car and control of the tracks in a similar method to a usb memory stick. I have a 2014CLA with COMAND and an iPhoneX.
